Frequently asked questions

  • You do not need a referral to see a clinical psychologist. However, if you would like to access Medicare rebates, you will need a referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP. With this in place, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

  • The first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and to begin understanding what has led you to seek support. We’ll spend time talking through your current concerns, relevant background information, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. You’re also welcome to ask any questions about the process, confidentiality, or how therapy might work for you.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide as much notice as possible.  Giving notice helps appointment times be offered to others and supports the ongoing running of the practice.

When appointments are changed or missed with short notice, the following charges apply to reflect the time that has been set aside for your session:

    • Less than 48 hours’ notice: 50% of the session fee

    • Less than 24 hours’ notice or non-attendance: 100% of the session fee

These charges apply consistently and cannot be claimed through Medicare or private health insurance.

  • The Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommended fee for a 50-minute psychology consultation is $318. Fees for this practice are set below the APS recommended rate.

If you have a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan and GP referral, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $145.25 per session, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. Private health rebates may also be available, depending on your level of cover.

Please note that Medicare and private health insurance rebates cannot be claimed for the same appointment. Fee information can be provided on enquiry.
