About Me
Junie Johnson
Junie is a Clinical Psychologist with experience working across a range of hospital, research, and community mental health settings. Her training spans both international and Australian contexts, having completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), followed by postgraduate training in Clinical Psychology in Sydney. Junie is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and holds endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist.
Junie has provided psychological assessment and therapy for adults, adolescents, and children, and has worked across acute and longer-term settings. Her experience includes individual therapy as well as the facilitation of group-based programs within inpatient, outpatient, university, and community services.
Her clinical work is grounded in relational and attachment-informed frameworks, with an emphasis on understanding emotional experiences as part of a person’s broader history and relationships. From this foundation, Junie draws on a range of evidence-based approaches, including Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), tailoring her work to what is most appropriate and helpful for each individual. She prioritises creating a non-judgemental and supportive space where clients feel able to reflect on their experiences and speak openly about what they are finding difficult.
Junie’s approach involves exploring current difficulties alongside past and present experiences, while also supporting practical coping and skill development. She aims to balance deeper exploratory work with strategies that support day-to-day functioning, in a way that feels considered and sustainable.
